Car Wreck

I need to write this down before it becomes too blurry for it to have the same impact.

I was wearing a gray long sleeve v-neck under my leather jacket;  I was wearing some black fingerless gloves that I had made from an old pair of mix-matched black gloves that had resided in the living room closet for too long and some light-blue, white paint splattered jeans.  Jonah was wearing some blue jeans, a long sleeve green t-shirt, and his black coat; a gray toboggan and matching gloves were laying next to him on the seat.  I was just coming back from the Dollar Store where I was checking on a job application with Jonah, after we had finished lunch at McDonald's.   Jonah had a Happy Meal with chicken nuggets and a hot fudge sundae and I had a two cheeseburger meal with a large carmel frappe.  We were at the three-way intersection of Davidson Highway and Winecoff School Road- the one with the blinking yellow turn signal.  I had let a couple cars past before I looked to see if anyone else was coming:  there was a small gray car- a Flex or a Fit or whatever- but it was a good distance away and I thought it was going to slow down.  Three quarters of the way through the intersection, there was a loud, almost stereotypical crash sound and the world turned gray as I felt my body get jerked.  There was smoke and glass all over the place and the smell of burnt rubber and chemicals filled my nose.  I remember looking at the airbag deflate, and hearing the sound of Jonah moving.  I turned around to look at Jonah and-

I have to take a moment to gather my thoughts here because this is the worst part about the accident.  Not the fact that my car was totaled, not the fact that I probably had a concussion, not the fact that I had no idea how we were going to be able to pay for this or the insurance after this;  no, the worst possible thing about this accident is what I'm going to describe next.

Jonah was turning away from the window and there was a look of absolute, ice cold fear in his eyes.  There was deep tears in the side of his face and you could see the white bone and red flesh underneath and the flaps of skin that were left were hanging from the side of his face.  I watched with a look of absolute terror and nausea as my 8 year old brother's face scrunch up as he felt the blood run down his face and he slowly lifted his right hand and touched the side of his face and screamed.  Grabbing the door handle, I pushed the door open and ran to the driver's side rear door and ripped it open and half leapt/half crawled over the seat to him.  I immediately put my hand over the gashes and, screaming and quivering, I told him over and over again "I love you Jonah" "I'm so sorry" "You're going to be alright"  "I didn't ever mean for this to happen"  "I'm sorry"  "Jonah".  And then I looked past his broken face to see a Mexican American or Hispanic lady in a black car with silver rims and all of the sudden I started screaming "Help me" over and over and over and over and over again.  The lady looked like she typed something into a phone and then she drove off and I went hysterical screaming for somebody, anybody to help me, that he was only 8 years old and that he had never done anything to deserve this.   It felt like hours before somebody pulled me off of him and I was thrust back into the cold air and there was a couple of strong men who tending to my brother and I just lost it.  I started to scream that this supposed to never happen, that Jonah shouldn't have gotten hurt and why wasn't I hurt, I was the one driving and that this was just a dream, a nightmare, it wasn't real and I bit myself over and over again to wake myself and a woman told me that Jonah needed me to be strong and then I went over there and I told Jonah that it was just a small cut and soon as we get done at the doctor's, they'll take us home and well finish that level on the video game you were telling me about in McDonald's, you remember McDonald's, don't you? and please tell me you remember McDonald's, Jonah, Please tell me you remember and then I would lose all conception of control and go over to the phone pole and yell at myself and the car and then go back to Jonah.  I tried desperately to call 911 but all I could get was 335 and then 334 and then 944 and finally 911 and then it was all I could do to scream at the man on the line and make out the words of intersection of Davidson highway and Winecoff before I accidentally hung up on him and then I tried to call my mom, calling everyone else on the contact list and then finally screaming when she picked up.  By some miracle, she made it before the ambulance left and I rode in the ambulance telling Jonah that I was so sorry so sorry and telling my mom that I never meant for this to happen and that I should of been hurt because I was the one driving and if anything was to be blamed for, it was my fault and I should be the one punished.

When Jonah went into surgery, my Mom asked me who's blood was on my hands and I broke down again because I realized that my brother's blood was on my hands: I was the one who hurt him this way.

Full Post

I apologize if my last post seemed kind of abrupt and unnecessarily short; Autumn Hex was pestering me at the time and I was having trouble focusing (probably shouldn't have admitted that, but it's whatever).  In other news, I just got broken up with (making it to number 20!!!!); if anyone else asks me if I'm okay, I'm going to shove a pencil up their nose.  If anyone wants to talk or, you know, actually write a post on this stupid blog, don't wait for a freaking invitation:  go ahead!  My email is aaron.mckenzie101@gmail.com.   My computer's hard drive is dying and I'll probably have to go get a new laptop, so you might want to text me at 704-918-8299.  I have a cross country meet from 4:00 to 7:00 at North Cabarrus Park, if anybody wants to come watch me epically fail.  Hopefully, I'll post something else a little bit better soon.

Welcome Back

School has started and, for most of us, this is senior year.  Get ready to start waking up at 6:00 to go to school and staying up until 3:00 working on homework.  I hope you all have a great first semester and, hopefully, work hard to get whatever grades you need (or want).

In other news, I have started a group on Facebook called the slow club.  Please check it out at www.facebook.com/earthisabeautifulplace and join.

Also, as some of you know, I recently caught my girlfriend cheating on me with another guy.  Do not worry; I am fine.  I just need some time to think some things over, so don't be surprised if I zone out when you're talking to me.

End of the Year

The end of the school year is approaching and no one is hiring, (all positions are filled) so I have no idea how I'll survive long enough for school to start up again.  In other news, Jahn's Flipnote account is ranked 52nd last time I looked (out of 1 million+).  Thanks for viewing and commenting.  I'll try to get a few story posts in before the end of summer.

Sorry About the Lack of Posting

Sorry for lack of posts; the end of the school year is coming and I've been working like heck on the end of the year projects and haven't had a lot of time to work on D.R.A.C.  Using Jahn's DSi, I found out about Flipnote.  If you know what I'm talking about and want to see some of our flipnotes, his flipnote id is jahn-oceania.  Check us out and favorite us.

Legalize Love

This may be the first time that I use the blog to voice my true point of view.  I may be lenient on mos subjects and tend to give way to another point of view, but this is where I put my foot down and make a stand.
Have you ever felt love, NC?  Because if you say you have, the truth is you haven't.  You have just destroyed hundreds of others chances of ever being able to adopt a child and raise a family.  The feeling you feel for your husbands or wives is the same feeling that homosexual couples feel for each other.  That love?  That love is real, not artificial or fake, unlike the 5,000 divorced couples that are created every month.  With this mockery of a law, you have destroyed love at its very core and orphaned 280 kids in flash of a pen quicker than Adolf Hitler ever could.
Now, let me ask you one more time: do you know love?  We know the true answer: you don't and couldn't.  You have turned to ancient and dusty traditions rather than logic and true faith.  You quote religion; I quote a God that wouldn't cause this much pain.
I myself am not homosexual, but I believe that there is not a person that would choose to be gay or lesbian out of pure preference because of all the s*** that the human race puts homosexuals through.  I believe that they are the same as heterosexuals, just with one simple, innocent difference.  I refuse to lift my foot on this one: I will set myself on fire on the steps of the capital if that is what it takes.

Back Home

Hey, we're back home and there are going to be a couple updates to D.R.A.C., so just take a few seconds to read the list below.

  1. D.R.A.C. has finally found an online MMORPG game that complies with our rules and requirements; you may have heard of it before and some of you might already play it: Dungeon Fighters Online or DFO, as it is also known.  D.R.A.C. has started a guild named D.R.A.C. (duh), led by SnowTenebrae.  We plan to have a website done before June, along with a promotional video.
  2. D.R.A.C. will soon appear on The Bright Night Storum as well as on the D.R.A.C. Blog.
  3. The Bright Night needs administrators, so please apply at the Contact Us page of The Bright Night website.
  4. The Bright Night is planning to open a Zombie Storum, which would only feature zombie-themed media (duh).  To hold a place in the creation of this website, contact The Bright Night at their Contact Us page.  Applications will stop being accepted on April 20th, 2012.
  5. D.R.A.C.S. is working on creating a website.  To help, give ideas, make fun of, etc., please contact aaron.mckenzie101@gmail.com.  The website will start construction on the 300th post on the D.R.A.C. Blog.
  6. We are currently looking for an administrator for Tumblr account for D.R.A.C.  To apply, please contact us at aaron.mckenzie101@gmail.com.  The Tumblr account will be operational as soon as we find an administrator.
In other news, my family is now in possession of a puppy named Levi (awwwe... puppy).  Jinx and Atacai made it to and from Las Vegas safely; the planes' timing was messed by a couple human errors and they were forced to sleep in a kind stranger's car, so they were a couple of days late.  I sincerely hope that everyone that reads this post will give these administration opportunities some thought.  These are nonprofit organizations, so these jobs technically count as volunteer work, but they will help D.R.A.C. grow into an even larger community.

Hotel is Rich

I had no idea just how awesome hotels could be until we arrived in Florida.  I've just uploaded an album of pictures that I took of my hotel room and I still can't believe that I took them.  The hotel has 4 pools, 2 tennis courts, a mini golf course, a marina, grocery store, big, great registration center (picture above), basketball court, and a plethora of golf carts.  No kidding, I think I would take the effort to drive all the way down to Florida just to stay in this hotel.
I haven't heard from Jinx and Atacai since the last time they posted so I don't know how they're doing.  I'll try to get in tough with them soon.
To see the pictures of my hotel room, (yeah, that's right; I have my own room, [which is more like a small house] and Ile, Jahn, and our parents are staying in a separate room, [which is, once again, more like a large house] apart from mine.) go to my g+ profile; I should have it posted.

Hey guys.  I'm going to be in Florida with Ile, Jahn, and our parents for Spring Break.  I heard that Jinx and Atacai are going to be in Las Vegas, so they won't be posting that much, either (probably not at all).  I'll try to keep in touch with you guys through cellular posting, but that won't be very likely.  Happy Spring Break and I'll see you when we get back!

Say Something Week

Have a MMORPG game that you like to play and truly do enjoy the way that the creators made the website? Find their Contact Us page and send them an email telling them so.  This week (March 25th through 'til March 31st) is Say Something Week.  Say something nice to someone or something (online game, online forum, nearby company, your favorite soda's bottling company, etc.) or say something to help them better themselves (please no angry rants; they aren't productive).  One of the things that can damage a company or a person the most is withholding information that can shape them into something great.  Fight against this by letting your thoughts be heard.

Don't Turnitin.com

I know that I've already done a Facebook post on this, but I feel like I must reinforce the bad effects that Turnitin.com has on the psychology and intellectual work of students around the globe.  Here's a quick list of the evils Turntin.com has committed:

  1. Procuring false charges of plagiarism
  2. Not completing its original goal of catching plagiarizers
  3. Manipulating student's original work to suit its own ends.
  4. Exhibiting student's works and otherwise breaking the copyright laws
  5. Using a lame excuse for a logo
  6. And much, much more...
Check out this account of a rebellion against Turnitin.com: word.

D.R.A.C.S.: Fear Them

D.R.A.C.S.- Breaking These Chains

Breaking These Chains is the sixth and last song in D.R.A.C.S.'s album, Fear Them.  The title was originally going to be Stand Up and Fight, but Aiken Arrows showed the group a quick preview of what was planned for the next album release, so they changed it to Breaking These Chains.  The speech at the beginning of the song came from D.R.A.C.S's live concert in NY and is made by Blade Nights. (Note: There was a drunk guy next to Jinx Muse when he was recording the audio and he says some.... interesting things.)  Ralphie Nights is on the mic and the drums, Rea Nights and Zane Nights play the electric guitar, Tony Nights is on the keyboard, and Blade Nights is on the electric bass.  The lyrics are by Blade Nights.

D.R.A.C.S. (Featuring Seria Arrows)- The Penguin Song

Yes, we know that The Penguin Song is not a D.R.A.C.S. song, but Shar let us use her wonderful lyricist, vocalist, and guitarist skills to add a song to D.R.A.C.S.'s album, Fear Them.  Using Jinx Muse's DJ skills and equipment, we were able to fix the high pitched beep problem that Shar originally had with her microphone.  Shar Ward is on the mic and guitar (obviously), while Ralphie Nights is on the cymbals.  The lyrics are by Shar Ward and this is the 5th track.

D.R.A.C.S.- Apathetic

Apathetic is the fourth song in D.R.A.C.S.'s album, Fear Them.  Ralphie Nights is on the mic and drums, Rea Nights and Zane Nights are on the electric guitar, Blade Nights is on the electric bass, and Tony Nights is on the keyboard.  The applause sound in the middle of the song is taken from D.R.A.C.S.'s live concert in New York and was incorporated into the mp3 file by Jinx Muse.  Ralphie Nights wrote the lyrics for this song.  Enjoy

D.R.A.C.S.-Your Heart Next To Mine

Your Heart Next To Mine is the third song in D.R.A.C.S.'s album, Fear Them.  The lyrics were written by Zane Nights.  Zane Nights and Rea Nights are on the guitar and mic, Ralphie Nights is on the drums, and Tony Nights is on the keyboard.  Enjoy.

D.R.A.C.S.-Friday Night Rebel

Friday Night Rebel is the second song in D.R.A.C.S.'s album, Fear Them.  The intro lyrics came from Your Favorite Martian's song, "White Boy Wasted".   Zane Nights does the intro and electric guitar,  Ralphie Nights is on the mic and plays the drums, Rea Nights plays the guitar, Blade Tenebrae is on the electric bass, and Tony is on the keyboard.  The lyrics are by Ralphie Nights.  Enjoy

D.R.A.C.S. (Featuring Jil Muse)- Satisfied and Okay

Satisfied and Okay is the first song in D.R.A.C.S.'s album, Fear Them.  The main vocalist is Jil Muse, one of JinxedMusic's best clients.  Tony Nights is on the synthesizer, Zane Nights and Rea Nights provide backup electric guitar sound, Blade Nights plays the electric bass, and Ralphie Nights plays the drums.  The song lyrics were written by Jil Muse.  Enjoy.

Movies Can Change The World

Believe or not, the post title isn't some kind of sarcastic comment on the mindset of America; I can honestly say that movies can change and/or open minds that can (and do) change the world.  Here's a couple that I've viewed:

Twelve Angry Men:  An old black and white movie.  It deals with rights in court and actually evaluating whether or not the accused are guilty.

Mr. Smith Goes To Washington (Not a children's show, despite the title): Another black and white movie (don't worry; they're not all old).  It deals with government, but not on a purely judicial base; it also deals with determination and fighting for the right reason.

The Lorax (I'm not kidding; corny and silly, but there is something to it that gets to the heart):  Obviously meant to support the fight against global warming and pollution, but there is something way more to this than just another "let's save the planet: go green" campaign; it provides many instances of where people close their eyes to the problems in their society.  It uses powerful imagery (wall being broken through, eyes literally opening, etc.) to show that only by changing people's way of thinking will anything ever be accomplished.

We Bought A Zoo (Another corny family movie):  Aside from the fact that it's pretty funny and another stereotypical "let's save the animals" movie, We Bought A Zoo has an awesome moral story to it that left some of the people in the movie theater that I went to in tears.  I won't reveal too much, but it reveals the power and courage in overcoming immense grief.  You have to check this one out

The Day After Tomorrow (Finally something normal): I really do believe that this, instead of The Lorax, truly shows the tragedy that we've wrought upon this Earth with our pollution and bad habits.  In merely a day, the world is turned into a wasteland.  Using scenarios that have all of the feelings of real life, the producers of The Day After Tomorrow have changed the way we thought about global warming.

Hero Of War

A drowning man does not die silently
You can feel the final warning
And the black riches that follow
Through the veins of the shallow
Change the name to protect the guilty

He said, "Son, have you seen the world?
Well, what would you say if I said that you could?
Just carry this rifle, you'll even get paid"
I said, "That sounds pretty good"

Black leather boots, spit shined so bright
They cut off my locks but it looks alright
We marched and we sang
We all became friends as we learned how to fight

A hero of war, yeah that's what I'll be
And when I come home
They'll be d*** proud of me
I'll carry this flag to the grave if I must
'Cause it's flag that I love and a flag that I trust

I kicked in the door, I yelled my commands
The children they cried but I got my man
We took him away, a sack over his face
From his family and his friends
We beat him with guns and batons
Not just once but again and again

A hero of war, yeah that's what I'll be
And when I come home
They'll be d*** proud of me
I'll carry this flag to the grave if I must
'Cause it's flag that I love and a flag that I trust

She walked through bullets and haze
I asked her to stop,
I begged her to stay
But she pressed on
So I lifted my gun and I fired away

And the bullets jumped through the smoke
And into the sand that the blood now had soaked
She collapsed with a flag in her hand
A flag white as snow

A hero of war is that what they see
Just medals and scars,
So d*** proud of me
And I brought home that flag, now it gathers dust
But it's a flag that I love, it's the only flag I trust

Out the door, you get burned
And there is no way back in
You've got nothing
Snake eyes
The house always wins

Letter from Fight for the Future

 Dear Aiken,

Now that Congress has had time to process last week's internet blackout, a consensus has emerged: SOPA and PIPA are toxic for politicians, and going anywhere near them could cost them their re-election.

Freedom is winning.
Together, we've done something amazing-- never have so many people stood up to defend a free and open internet

And here's Carl Franzen at Talking Points Memo:
"Behind the scenes, Hill staffers from both sides of the aisle confirmed to TPM that the entire piracy debate had become so 'toxic' that virtually no lawmakers were likely to be ready to re-engage it anytime soon."
Experienced Congress-watchers are telling us they've never seen anything like this.

Internet users, tech companies, and non-profits joined together to defend fundamental rights on the internet. To a lot of elites in Congress and the corporate world, the internet is just something that lazy teenagers use to spam people with pictures of photoshopped unicorns. The blackout showed that the peer-to-peer internet is about empowerment, and that when we work together we can defeat the corrupt politics of Washington D.C.
The New York Times and Talking Points Memo have both published good articles on how the web blackout was organized.

For months, four senators were the only force blocking passage of PIPA/SOPA. They even promised to filibuster the bill back when most politicians were against them. We need to make sure we support and vote for leaders like them who are willing to going to go out on a limb and oppose SOPA before it was popular to do so. It's great that we pressured all those other shlubs into opposing web censorship, but these guys deserve the real cred and our support.

What's next?  The Fight is not over, already new threats to web freedom are starting to emerge (particularly in Europe) and we're getting ready.

Thank you again for standing up for a free and open internet!

Nickelback's New Album Surprise

Amazingly, but true, Nickelback is making a faint comeback into popularity with their new album, Here and Now.  Now, let this be known: I have always been a fan of Nickelback (I faltered a little bit when they cane out with the song, "Animals").  Let's hope they don't mess up this delicate climb into normalcy with another mistake like "Animals."
