Story Post 12

I opened my eyes groggily and groaned.  I was still in the apartment that smelled like... flowers?
I bolted up and flipped the light switch.  Doing a quick 360 of the room to make sure that I was alone, I sprinted out into the living room.  A candle was burning on the small table/desk thing next to the couch.  I walked closer to it and sniffed.  Ugh... scented.
"Good morning, Cody," a voice behind me said, amused.  I spun around and saw Rea leaning on the doorway between her room and the living room.  She had a nightgown she had bought at American Eagle on and her hair was wet.
"Good morning, Jennifer," I said, smiling.  "How'd you get Toby to agree to that?" I asked, gesturing towards the scented candle.
Jennifer shrugged and sipped her cup of coffee in her hands.  "Dunno," she said.  "We were moving so fast... You know this isn't the first time we've had to do this, right?"
I nodded.  "I thought so... the way you guys acted... it was like you've done it before," I said, sitting down on the couch.
Jennifer nodded silently and said, "Can I sit next to you?"  I smiled and patted the cushion next to me.  I put my hand around her as she put her head on my shoulder.  I closed my eyes, remembering the scent of her.  I quickly shut out my thoughts, but I swear I could tell she was smiling.
You're the only one I feel safe talking to like this, her voice said in my head, intruding upon my thoughts.
Why?  No one can tell what you are saying, I thought, puzzled.
I know, she thought back.  But I still feel like the other person can tell what I'm thinking.  She leaned closer to me, closing her eyes.
And I couldn't possibly ever do that, I thought, smiling widely.  I'm just too dim and innocent looking to be that clever.
I felt her body shake as she laughed silently.  No, silly; I don't know why.  You just feel... safe.
I played with her hair.  You're the only mind reader I would talk to.
She smiled and hugged me.  I love you, she thought quietly, voicing words that we would have never been able to say aloud.
My eyes opened wide and a flood of thoughts entered my mind that were, for once, my own.  I thought the most prominent one; I love you too.
I felt her sigh.  Bl-Toby won't be happy about this.  It might blow our cover.  A tear trickled down her cheek.  Suddenly I saw her story; the soul mate of her life caught trying to break into the refrigerator and pleading with Blade to "Let him stay for a while," and trying not to look too happy when he had agreed.  I could see her, biting her lip to keeping from saying the words, knowing how weird it would  be to say that you had a crush on your almost-brother.  I could see her sliding looks at me, remembering the way I looked while smiling.
Then, just as suddenly, I saw my story.  Waking up from being hit on the head in the middle of the night to a fierce, beautiful girl standing over me, hands on hip, demanding "What the heck is your name?"  I could see me hitting myself on the head to dislodge the thoughts that would not go away.  I could see myself glancing over at her to make sure that she was still there and not a figment of my imagination.
I slowly caught the tear on my finger and flicked it away.  Who says we have to tell him? I retorted, wisely.
Footsteps sounded in the hallway and I heard, Good idea, before Jennifer leapt up and walked towards the kitchen.  Tony stumbled blearily into the living room and yawned.
"Good morning," Jennifer said cheerfully, sitting down at the kitchen table.  You better get into the shower before you're late for school, a voice in my head said.
I smiled at her and walked silently past Tony, who mumbled, "Hey Zane."
I laid down on my bed, smiling like a deranged man.  For the past four years, I had been hiding my feelings inside, trying to convince myself more and more that Rea could care less about me and that I was just hallucinating and should find someone else to fall in love with.  What just happened felt like a fairytale... I shook my head to help clear my thoughts and grabbed a white "Casual Tee No. 1," skinny jeans, socks and underwear and headed towards the bathroom.
As I soaked in the hot water, I swear I could hear "Realize" by Colbie Caillat playing in the background.

I don't know why, but this post just came up in my thoughts and I was like, Heck, it's worth a try.  Comment if you like it, go away if you don't.

Odd One

Zane sent me these music lyrics for a song called "Odd One" by Sick Puppies.  Pretty cool song.  The music video for it is above this post.

Odd one, you're never alone
I'm here and I will reflect you
Both of us basically unattached
To anything or anyone unless we're pretending
You live your life in your head
Some call it imagination
I'd rather focus instead on anything except
What I'm feeling
What I'm feeling
Odd one...

Hey, it's gonna be okay
Hey, we're gonna laugh at this one day

Odd one, I wish I was you
You're never concerned with acceptance
We are all desperately seeking out,
And fitting in with anyone
Who will accept us
But not you, odd one

Hey, it's gonna be okay
Hey, we're gonna laugh at this one day

Hey, it's gonna be okay
Hey, gonna laugh at this one day

Hey, it's gonna be okay
Hey, we're gonna laugh at this one day

Don't let someone tell you you're no-one
Don't let someone tell you you're no-one
Odd one...

Story Post 11

As Ali has already told you, the story that I'm creating is based upon real people and real places, just not real events.  Anyways, I thought it would be cool to finally tell the Nights story.  Everything before the psi elements came in is true.  The warehouse... everything.  Hope you guys enjoy the story and learn something.
     *                                                        *                                          *
After what seemed like forever sitting in a crowded office, Blade finally got the apartment manager to believe that he was 21.  I looked closely at Blade; he was 18, but he did have the appearance of being older than he was.  Perhaps it was the years of hiding that had changed his appearance into something that was to be looked up to.
"Just take it, okay!  Monthly payment is $475 a month,"  the apartment manager said, flipping a piece of paper at Blade.  Blade grabbed it and scribbled a signature before I could open my mouth.  Freak'n $475?!  I thought to myself.
Don't worry,  Rea's voice said in my mind.  Blade has the money to pay for it and he will get a job.  I nodded slightly to Rea and gestured to walk out of the cigar-scented office.  I opened the door and let out a deep breath as the cool air rushed around me.  I looked around and saw Rea leaning against the side of the building.  I opened my mouth to speak and then shut it as Blade stalked out with Tony and Ralphie following him.
Catching my eye, Tony said, "We got the apartment."  He opened the back seat door and gestured for me to sit in the middle.  I groaned and stomped over to the car.
             *                                     *                                     *
I sighed, falling back onto my bed.  So much has changed.  I thought to myself.  On the way to the apartment, Blade told us our new cover stories.  I was to be Cris White and Rea was to be Jennifer White.  Ralphie's new name was Austen White and Tony got to keep his first name and change his last name to White.  Blade's new cover story was that he was a young widower, called Toby White.  He and Mary, the fake dead wife, had adopted all of their children on the account that Mary could not have children.  "Toby" had come to Little Falls, NY to get away from the rush and stress of the big city.
I yawned and closed my eyes.  This had been the first time that I had been anywhere near a real bed since... I can't remember.  My eyes drifted closed and I began to dream of angels hiding from mobs of people.

Cool

I think the idea of putting the Nights into a story is cool.  It's been a while since I've last spoken to them, but it is nice to remember them once in a while.  I just got a phone call from "Rea" yesterday asking me how I was.  She still sounds the same, but she's definitely changed.  For anyone out there wondering: no, the real Nights do not have psi powers, but they are lost orphans.  Aiken just wanted to add some excitement to the story, and from what I've read, it's pretty good.

Story Post 10

This is not going to be my best post... I think.  I found the sound that best describes me in the post below.
      *                                            *                                    *
I tried to go to sleep and get some rest, but between Ralphie's snoring and Rea and Tony sleeping, I decided to stay awake.  Blade stared out at the road, ignoring the sounds in the back.   After what seemed like a year of staring at the same cars go past us, I finally noticed the sun in the horizon turning the black sky into a midnight blue.
Rea woke up and yawned.  "How much farther?"  She said sleepily, staring dully at the road in front of us.  Her hair looked like a bird's nest, twisted and tangled into a bowl-like shape.
"25 more miles" Blade grumbled, gripping the sides of the wheel so hard his knuckles turned white.  I remembered Blade's dislike of northern traffic.
Rea nodded as if she expected this all along.  "What are we going to do with the car?" she asked, patting the headrest behind her.  I leaned forward, I had been wondering the same thing the entire car ride.
Blade was quiet for a few minutes and then he sighed.  "We're going to keep it," he said, ignoring Rea's questioning glare.  "I was listening to the radio and the rent-a-car place we 'borrowed' the car from wasn't broken into.  It was completely destroyed."
I thought silently to myself and then spoke.  "Why?"  I asked, curious.
"The owner had certain enemies he had made in some dark alleyways."  Blade answered bluntly.  I shuddered, remembering my own parent's interactions with the darker side of urban life.  Tony twitched and muttered something about penguins.
"This car has got to be tracked somewhere." Rea said, rummaging through the glove box.  After a moment, her head came up and she was holding a piece of computer guts.  "We're going to have to get this car fixed so it at least looks like ours."
"Aww!  But I liked the bumper sticker that says 'rent-a-car!'"  Ralphie moaned, rubbing his eyes and smiling.
"Good morning, Ralphie.  We're getting ready to say hello to our new home."  Rea said, pointing at the brown-gray apartment that was growing in the main windshield.
"Home, sweet home." I muttered, wishing I was back in the warehouse.

I'm back!

I'm done with my trip to Europe and have one thing to say: I thank God for American hygiene.  Europe streets are disgusting.  There are a lot of older people too, but I kept my mouth shut.  I took some pictures, but I lost my camera. Go figure.  Anyways, thanks for the birthday emails.

This is me

 This is my song.

You screech like a siren
I'm too skinny to feed
You're on medication
Taking pills to sleep
I think I'm doing just fine
Compared to what you've been doing
I won't get vaccinated
Insurance costs too much
You think you're so persuasive
But I'm not giving up
Saving my life
It's not what you're doing

I, I won't justify
The way I live my life
'Cause I'm the one livin' it
Feelin' it, tastin' it
And you're just wasting your time
Trying to throw me a line
When you're the one drowning
I like where I'm at on my back
Floating down in my own riptide
The water is fine

I like to step on cracks
I go against the odds
You think my world is flat
Do I turn you on?
Maybe, yeah I'm wrong
But I like where I'm going
I leave when others stay
I never re-decide
I don't mind if you wait
But I don't waste my time
Crazy is just fine
'Cause I like where I'm going

I, I won't justify
The way I live my life
'Cause I'm the one livin' it
Feelin' it, tastin' it
And you're just wasting your time
Trying to throw me a line
When you're the one drowning
I like where I'm at on my back
Floating down in my own riptide
The water is fine

I remember when it used to be easy
I remember when it wasn't so hard
I remember when it used to be easy
I remember when, I remember when

I, I didn't have to justify
The way I live my life
'Cause I'm the one livin' it
Feelin' it, tastin' it
And you're just wasting your time
Trying to throw me a line
When you're the one drowning
I like where I'm at on my back
Floating down in my own riptide
The water is fine

I remember when it used to be easy
I remember when it wasn't so hard
I remember when it used to be easy
I remember when, I remember when

Story Post 9

I am not going to let this story die like a fire... I promise.  I just needed some time to think about what to put next.  Anyways, I decided to put another song in.
      *                                                          *                                                      *
I must have fallen asleep in the car ride because when I woke up, we were parked in front of a American Eagle outlet store.  "What the heck are we doing here?"  I grumbled, rubbing my eyes.  Everyone looked like they'd been awake for a while, even Ralphie, who was the Nights' very own late sleeper.
Blade sighed, and unlocked the door to get out.  "We're getting some new clothes,"  He growled, walking out of the Honda.
My stomach coiled up inside of itself.  I had known the reason why we had to switch clothes, but I had no idea we were going to have to wear... American Eagle.  I shuddered and opened the car door slowly to prolong the wait.
"Come on," Tony mumbled angrily.  "Let's get this done and be done with it.  I hate this as much as you do."  He nudged me with his elbow and growled.
I picked up the pace and started to walk slowly towards the store.  The bell dinged and I looked at the clock on the far side of the store.  6:01 AM.  We're probably the first people in the store, I thought to myself.
"Can I... help you?"  A teen clerk asked us, blond hair looking like it had come straight out of a ABC soap opera.  I noticed that while her voice sounded sincere, her facial expression was obviously disgusted.
"We're just looking for some clothes," Blade said in his gravely voice.  The clerk shuddered at the sound of it but quickly regained control and smiled polity.
"Men's are on the left side and... Women's are on the right."  She said, looking disdainfully at Rea.
I bit my lip, pushing down the sudden rage that threatened to overtake my control.  She's such a jerk, I thought, directing it towards Rea.
I know.  It's nothing big, She thought back at me, nodding. She stood straight as if it didn't bother her, but her eyes told a different story.
Blade opened his mouth to reply to the clerk, but I interrupted him.  "That will be all, thank you." I said darkly, glowering at her.  The clerk hid a gasp and stepped backwards and then played it off with a yawn and twirled around.
Everyone stared at me, but I hid my face and said, "Let's get this thing done with already, OK?  I'm falling asleep here."  Blade nodded and set off for the coats section.  Tony wandered off into the polo section, thinking really hard.  Ralphie, of course, saw the words "... like Ralph Lauren" and headed off in that direction.  I shook my head and stalked off into the world of button-up shirts.
After a few minutes of investigating several shades of black and blue, I heard a voice in my mind that wasn't my own.  Thank you, Rea "said".
I stopped what I wasn't doing and leaned on a mirrored wall.  You're welcome, I thought, thinking back at the clerk's reaction.
There was silence on the other "end" and then I heard, Time to go; Blade's picked out what he wants.
I shook m head and grabbed some short sleeve button-up shirts in white and light blue.  I checked their sizes and then grabbed some skinny jeans in dark denim.  Walking calmly up to the register, I saw my favorite clerk was behind the counter.  I put my new clothes on the counter and walked over to Tony, who was done with checking out.  He was holding a load of light blue jeans and a couple of polos and jackets.  Ralphie was shifting from one foot to the other, holding a load of graphic T's and blue jeans.
"Thank you"  a steely voice said behind me and I saw Rea walking away from the register.  She was holding a pair of brown shoes, some designer jeans, and a load of different shirts and sweaters.  She made a face at me and I went to check out.
I gave my clothes to the clerk, who bagged them with out a word.  I gathered my stuff and walked out to the car with the others.  Standing by the car with pitch black hair, a brown aviator jacket, deep blue jeans, and leather moccasins, was a 18 year old kid with aviators on.
"Stop staring at me and get your stuff in the car." Blade growled, getting into the driver's seat and turning on "I Walk Alone" by Green Day.

Rules for the State Farm Jingle

Rule # 1: Do not sing the jingle while driving.  State Farm does not cover accidents resulting from the shock of suddenly having a guy pop out of nowhere.

Rule # 2: Do not hum the song while performing a surgery on someone.  Some of our agents get sick at the sight of blood.

Rule # 3: Do not make a rap version of the jingle.  Some weird things happen...

Story Post 8

As some of you guys on Facebook already know, I've been camping the entire weekend.  My face is chapped from the winds on Saturday, but it doesn't hurt so I'm okay.  My face is burnt from sitting too close to the fire, though, so I'm going to have to deal with the pain for a while.  I have vowed to never eat chili again in my life and I'm not taking that back.  Anyone that wants to hear the complete story behind that promise, just email me at aaron.mckenzie101@gmail.com  Now with the rest of the story.
     *                                                *                                       *
The sudden rush in speed made me stumble and Tony ran out to catch me, but I picked myself up.  "Get the red Honda,"  I mumbled, throwing the keys over to Blade.  He grabbed them and started to run toward the Civic.  I caught my breath and ran after them.  Rea jumped into the passenger seat and Blade started the car.  Squeezing in with Tony and Ralphie, I calmed my breathing.  Running over the curb, Blade gunned the car out of the lot.
"Why are we stealing a car on a Tuesday?"  I asked, craning my neck forward.
"Because this is the only rent-a-car place that's being broken into on a Tuesday." Rea replied, staring forward.
I raised my eyebrows and Ralphie snorted.  "I can see the future..."  He said in a creepy voice and Tony elbowed him in the stomach.  My eyes grew wide and Rea turned around in her seat.
"No one would notice the car was stolen after the burglary."  She said, staring at me.  I nodded, taking in the information like I was a sponge.
Tony coughed.  "I still feel bad about Zane stealing the car."  He said, smirking.
     "I didn't steal the car," I protested.
"What did you do, then?" Tony asked, rolling his eyes.
"I put a dollar on the counter."  I said, defending myself.
The car grew quiet suddenly and then everyone started to laugh.  "I doubt that you can pay off a rent-a-car with a dollar." Rea said, giggling.  I rolled my eyes and leaned back into my seat.
Why's it gotta be me that gets laughed at?

Story post 7/Finished!

No, I'm not done with the story, but I am almost done with the game I'm designing.  I've got one more dungeon to go and then "Legend of Ganon" is into production!  I'll send a copy of the game to anyone that wants it!  Just email me at aaron.mckenzie101@gmail.com.  No spam, please (doesn't matter; it won't get past the filters I've set up.)  It's Jinx's birthday today (no, I'm not kidding).  He's packing for a trip to Ireland right now, so he's probably not going to return my phone calls for a while.  If you want a souvenir, email him at partycity1@hotmail.com; he might be able to respond to it.  Side note: All of the stores and businesses in this story are real. (Davy J's cafe does exist next to Money Solutions Inc.) Okay, now I'll get on with the rest of the story post.
   *                                                            *                                                                *
Get ready, a voice said in my mind.  I sat up and grabbed the switch blade that was underneath my pillow.  I jumped off of my mattress and grabbed the duffel bag that was my suitcase.  Feeling my way through the dark warehouse, I made my way to the front of the old storage area.  Ralphie was crouched over, hair wet and dripping. Tony was chuckling quietly and pointing at Ralphie.
I opened my mouth to ask what happened and then remembered that I couldn't speak.  What happened to Ralphie?  I thought as loudly as I could (how do you "think loudly"?)
A shriek pierced the air and Rea held her hands up to her head.  I ran over and picked her up and set her on a cardboard box.
"You don't have to be so loud!"  Rea whispered, glaring at me.  She slowly pulled her hands down and took a deep breath.  I can hear you perfectly fine.
I sighed and thought as calmly as I could, What's up with Ralphie?  I mentally smacked my forehead for being such a numskull; of course she could hear me perfectly fine.
He wouldn't wake up,  she replied, rubbing her ears.  We splashed water on his face to wake him up.  Now lets get going.
I nodded and helped her up.  Tony rubbed Ralphie's hair and motioned for him to stand up.  Blade walked out of the shadows and led the way out of the warehouse.  I walked next to Rea and plugged my mp3 in.  "Dare You to Move" by Switchfoot started to play as I thought quietly, how are we going to get to that place in New York?
We're going to take a rent-a-car a voice inside of my head replied.  I looked over at Rea, who was scanning the streets for any sign of movement.
How do you do that, I thought.  I can never tell if you're talking to me or not.
Loads of practice, she thought back, looking over at the roof tops for any onlookers.  I had to make sure that you never suspected anything was different about us.
I have a question, I thought, bluntly.  The corners of Rea's curled upwards into a smile at the blatant  statement.
     Ask away, she "said."
How come you guys accepted me when I didn't have any powers?  I asked.
Rea was "silent" for a while before answering.  Perhaps it was the main reason why we accepted you,  she thought quietly.  We wanted to act normal, be around normal people.  When you came around, it seemed like the perfect opportunity.  We knew that Ralphie wasn't normal when he came around.
I nodded and stepped up my pace to keep up with Blade.  We walking towards a plaza.  An office building for Diamond Meat & Food Services Co Inc seated across from Sports Deli.  A small side business called Money Solutions Inc had opened up next to Davey J's Cafe.  In the middle of all of this was "Dollar Rent A Car."
We stopped and Rea thought, The lights are off.  Zane, run into there and see if you can get us a car.
Why me?  I thought.  We all know how to pick locks.
You're the only one that can teleport.   Rea replied.
I groaned, putting my hand to my head.  I can't control it.  It only happens when I'm really angry or something.
"That can be arranged."  Ralphie growled behind me.  Before he even got the chance to do whatever it was he was going to do, I spun around and grabbed his raised arm.
Ralphies frozen face told me that I was in "teleport mode" (I have no idea what else to call it) so I sprinted over to the rent a car store and got out my lock-picking wire.  After a few seconds (could be less) I got the door unlocked and ran inside.  Expecting the alarms to go off I was greeted by silence.  Hurtiling over the front counter, I grabbed a pair of keys and jumped back over.  Leaving a 20 on the counter, I locked the door and closed it behind me.
Just as I reached the others, my "teleport mode" turned off.
