Story Post 6

I've added a music file to this post.  Just look for a name of a song and run your mouse over it and it will turn orange.  Then click on it.

After packing the huge load of things into my super large suit case, (did you know that they just added "sarcasm" to the dictionary?), I crept over to Rea's "room" to get some straight answers.
She was laying on the bare mattress on the second floor of the left wing of the warehouse.  The Nights had tried extremely hard to keep anyone from doing anything to the "abandoned" warehouse or taking interest in it.  Rea's mini boombox I had bought her for her 14th birthday was playing "Hero" by Skillet at medium volume.  Rea was humming in tune with the lyrics I had learned when I was ten years old.
"So Ralphie can tell the future, huh?"  I said, startling her out of her reverie.  She leap up, pulling a knife out from nowhere and crouched before realizing it was just me.  She flipped the knife closed and walked over to the radio and turned it off.
"Ralphie can tell the future.  So?" She snapped, blowing her hair out of her eyes.
"It's just weird; didn't he know that this day would come?"  I asked, sitting down on a broken concrete pillar.  I had always wondered why the heck the other kids had hated the Nights; it's not like we ever did anything bad to them.
Rea sighed and sat down on the bed.  "There's a limit to how far he can see and how well he can see it.  He can find lost items pretty well."  she said, plugging in her earphones to the mini boom box.  Her eyes shot up to mine and stared at me.  We'll leave by midnight to escape notice.
I groaned.  "Would you stop doing that?  It freaks me out."  I said, staring back at her.
This is the only way I'll be able to communicate with you guys, so you better get used to it.  We can't afford to have ourselves caught.
"Okay, but only until we get to where we're supposed to be,"  I relented, choosing to cut my loses by agreeing with her.  "How am I supposed to speak without using my mouth, anyways?"
Just think what you're going to say and I'll hear it.  Rea was bobbing her head to invisible music, oblivious to my facial expressions.  I nodded to myself, comfortable in the knowledge that she couldn't see the faces I was making at her.
I can hear what you're thinking, though, a voice in my mind said.  Rea smiled smugly, still bobbing her head.  I groaned, walking out of the room.
I'm going to have to start wearing a tin foil hat, I thought to myself.
     I heard that!
     Get out of my head!

Story Post 5

I added some information on the story for you guys so I wouldn't have to keep explaining myself.  Enjoy the polls!
      *                                                                           *                                                 *
Blade cracked his knuckles and sat down in front of me.  "I think that you can teleport" he said seriously, studying my face.  Rea and Ralph had stopped fighting in the background.  Tony was leaning forward to see my reaction.
"I can't teleport,"  I protested, thinking that the fact was obvious.  "All I can do is go super fast."
Blade nodded, passively acknowledging the simple fact.  "I know that, but it's the only thing that fits Rea and Tony's description.  So teleporting's what you do."
I sighed, putting my head in my hands.  Peeking out from between my fingers, I asked "So what can you do?"
Blade's body stiffened like a plank of wood and Ralphie snickered in the background.  "You asked the question," he said, giggling.  I stared at Blade's expression, waiting to see what it was that I had said wrong.
Blade shuddered and stood up.  "None of your business," he grumbled, standing up.
"So what do we do now?"  Rea asked, ignoring the drama between Blade and me.  "Because of Zane's little show in the main street, we can't stay here.  We'll be called freaks."  Her voice trembled slightly, but you wouldn't have been able to tell by the look on her face.
"We'll run off to another town, away from Pittsburgh."  Blade murmured, thinking really hard.  Rea stared really hard at Blade.  It took me a while to tell that she was communicating with him.  Ralphie coughed loudly and she sighed.
"We're going to Little Falls, New York.  It's got a population of only 5,188.  We'll still have to dress differently, though,"  she said, rushing the words together.
"No!" Blade said suddenly.  "We're a family, we're going to look like a family."  He glowered down at Rea.
"We'll be caught."  Rea said, gesturing to the black outfit she was wearing.  "We don't exactly look like everyday students of America."
"We're not everyday students of America," Ralphie mumbled, laying down on an empty cardboard box next to Tony.  Tony shoved him off of the box and chuckled.
Blade glowered at Rea and she stared back.  After a few moments, he relented, saying, "Okay, we'll dress differently.  But,"  he added, putting on his sunglasses.  "We keep the bracelets on."
I nodded, fingering the rune covered bracelet I had been given when I had first joined Nights.  It's made out of stainless steel pendents and a silicone band.  It snaps on and doesn't come off... easily.  It "grows" with me, so I've never had to replace it since I've had it.  Everyone of us has one, even Blade.  It rarely got dirty and was pretty easy to hide from the cops and teachers.  I never asked Blade where he got them, only why I should have to wear it.  "Keep it on and you're in.  Take it off and you're out of the Nights."  was the only reply I got.
I walked over to the ladder that lead to my room and got ready to pack up my things.

Story Post 4

Okay, I'll start off were I last was...
    *                                                                  *                                                          *
"This is...a dream," I said, pacing back in forth in front of Rea, Tony, and Ralphie.  Blade had left after the first time I had said that it was a dream.  "That's just what it is: a dream!"
It's not a dream, a voice said in the back of my head.  "Would you quit doing that!"  I shouted at Rea, twirling around.  She stared at me smugly.  What are you talking about?  I'm not doing anything.
"You're doing that stupid voice thingy with your mind!"  I said, pacing faster and faster.  If this is just a dream, then I can't really do that can I?, the voice replied
I stood there, dumbfounded.  Suddenly I grew angry at everything and everyone.  "Okay, okay, you're right!"  I screamed, turning around to look at them.  They just sat there with a dumb look on their faces, staring at me. "What is up with you guys?  Can't you move?" I said, snapping my fingers in their faces.  They still sat there, as still as stone statues.
Wait a minute, I thought.  They were moving... very slowly.  I put my head in my hands. It's happening again, I thought.  I decided to sit tight and not move while it lasted.  I blew my bleach white hair out of my face face and contemplated my situation.  There was no way I could deny whatever the heck was happening to me.  There was no way that I could just quit out on the nights; I've got more class than that.  I could just follow Blade as I had for all of my life.  Good idea, a voice said in my mind that wasn't mine.
I looked up and saw that the world had returned to normal speed.  Ralphie was sprawled out on one of the boxes.  My face grew red and and I muttered "So what are we going to do?"
"First," Blade said, walking into the room with a determined look on his face.  "You are going to get a proper introduction to everybody."  He stopped in front of me, arms crossed.
"What are you talking about?"  I asked, eyebrows creased.  "I've know you guys since... forever!"
"Obviously, you don't know us as much as we know each other." Rea said, tapping the side of her head.  Blade frowned, but continued to stand upright.
"Rea here, as you have already learned, is telepathic," Blade said, staring at me.  "She can not control minds at this point.  She can, however, read your mind and speak through it."
"She wishes she could," Ralphie muttered in his sleep, drooling onto the cardboard box.  Rea aimed a kick at his head, but Ralphie rolled over.
"Ralphie is a clairvoyant and a very stupid one at that," Blade continued.
"Hey!" Ralphie yelled, sitting upright.  Rea's hand connected with the back of his head.  "Ow!"  He cried, rubbing the back of his head.
"What the heck is a clairvoyant?"  I asked, ignoring the commotion in the back.
"Someone that can tell the future or the present without the use of any tools"  Blade answered, seemingly unperturbed by the vast amount of questions proposed by me.  I, personally, was in awe;  Blade almost never spoke more than ten sentences a day.
"What the heck is Tony?"  I asked, remembering the scene on top of the roof top.
"Tony is telekinetic, able to move objects with his mind."  Blade replied, cleaning his pitch black glasses with his shirt.
"Okay, so if that's everybody, then what the heck am I?"  I asked, wishing that someone had the answer.

When I met Jinx

I'm doing this for contest, so don't get offended, Jinx.  The contest is for the funnest and craziest story of meeting a friend.  Automatically I thought of you, which is kind of sad.  Oh, well; I hope I win this...
                                                                        *
I was invited to another middle school dance by some girl I didn't know.  Weighing the option of staying at home and doing boring homework to going to an awkward dance with cheap candies and donuts as refreshments, I chose to go to the dance.  It hadn't been my first middle school dance, so I wasn't surprised to not see anyone dancing.  I was surprised to see circle of students in the middle of the gym (the dance floor).  I pushed my way through the circle of peers and winced as I got closer to the blaring speakers.  Jinx was break-dancing with some other student I had never seen before.  All of the sudden the other student straightened up and clapped and walked backwards into the crowd.  After a while, another 8th grade student came into the circle and started to dance.  This was the first time I had ever seen a dancing competition.  One after another, Jinx bested everyone else at dancing.  I stood in the background, mouth open.
Some teachers shrugged their ways into the circle and started to yell at Jinx.  One of them grabbed his hand and started to pull him away.  Not thinking, like usual, I put my hand on the teachers should and handed him a 10 dollar bill.
"I'll pay for him,"  I said, waving the 10 dollar bill.  The teachers took the dollar bill and walked away.
After talking with Jinx, I found out that he was from Harris Road Middle School and had decided to crash this party.  Luckily, each Northwest Middle School student could bring one friend for 10 dollars, so he was safe for now.
"I owe you one" he had said, straightening out his metal bracelets.
"Be my friend and you'll be debt free,"  I had said, smiling.
"Okay," he said, rubbing my hair.

That was the time I had bought a friend for 10 dollars

Story post 3

I decided to put some background information on the main character right here.  I know, bad timing.
          *                                                                 *                                        *
My name is Selwyn  Nights.  The last part of my name came after my first.  Literally.  I was 7 years old when I first met the Nights in the streets of Pittsburgh.  Blade was 8 years old then and he needed a new recruit.  Someone with a little more education than most...
I had been running away from home, which seemed like a silly thing to do, since my home didn't exist anymore.  My parents had been killed in a drug raid by a rival gang; it had only been a mater of time after the years of divulging in drugs and guns.  I vowed to myself to get out of there and never talk to anyone I knew or didn't know.  I kept that promise for a long time...
I lived for about a year on the streets, occasionally stealing from local stores for food.  I watched the Nights, (there were only three of them at that time) walk around at night and eat real food.  One night, I broke into their hideout to get some of their food.  Needless to say, I was caught and interrogated.  I confessed to being homeless and they decided to take me in on one condition: I would change my first and last name.  At the time, I didn't know my last name; I had forgotten it in the midst of the run.  Blade decided to call me "Zane" and the name stuck.
After fixing me up and introducing me to the others, Blade began to set some ground rules.  Rule # 1: Listen to Blade.  Rule # 2:  No skipping school.  You skip school and you will get the tongue lashing of a life time.  Rule # 3:  Wear the clothes.  We were a family; we were going to look like a family.  Rule # 4:  Don't squeal about the hideout.  Rule # 5: Stick out for each other.
From the time I joined Nights to the present time, I had been provided for.  Rea had helped me study, Tony had made the necessary "parent" calls when the office called in to tell them that I was in trouble again, and Blade had provided me with goth clothes and my first laptop.  Nights had given me everything and more; I felt like I was part of a real family when I was with them.  But I wasn't too sure of that now.

Story Post 2

*CRACK* I dove for the ground, holding my hands behind my head.  They have guns?  I thought, peeking out from underneath my arm.  Rea hadn't moved an inch since we had made it out of the crowd; instead, she was pointing at the rooftop of a Mom and Pop store.
She's finally lost it, I thought as I scrambled up to push her away from the ricocheting bullets.  As I tried to grab her, she jerked away and pointed at the roof.  "It's Tony!" she shouted, waving her hands.
I glanced at the roof top and I saw him.  Tony was standing there, hands in the air, with...pebbles circling around him?
My head spun as the ground raced up to my face.  Just before it hit me, I blacked out.
          *                                                             *                                                            *
"What the heck was that?!"  I shouted at them.
Rea, Tony, Blade, and Ralphie were sitting on the cardboard boxes that littered our home.  A drop of water fell from the ceiling of the warehouse and landing beside me.  Ralphie coughed uncomfortably and shifted.
After a few minutes of almost-silence, Rea sighed and said, "Come on guys, we can't keep this a secret anymore.  Can't you see that he has it?"  Ralphie looked like he was going to be sick.
"Has what?  What do I have?!"  I cried out, looking from Rea to Blade, our leader.  Rea ignored me and stared intently at Blade.  Blade stared back at her, shades covering his eyes.
After a few moments, Blade sighed and shook off his midnight black jacket.  Leaning back, he nodded at Rea and fell asleep.
"What was that all about?"  I asked, feeling like a young kid who doesn't get a joke. "You guy's playing 'Don't Blink'?"  Ralphie snorted and Rea stared at him, narrowing her eyes.
"Do want to know the truth or what?"  Rea snapped, staring at me.
I nodded silently, turning serous again.  Rea took a deep breath and nodded silently.  We used to call Rea The Wolf.  It always seemed as if she was staring at the moon, wishing she could get way from this place.  I like to believe that was the reason; instead, we called her The Wolf because of her crazy hair.
"Let's start with your 'power'," she said, making quotation marks in the air.  "A while ago, we found out that some of us had 'powers'.  Blade told Ralphie to go to the library and find some information on what the heck was happening to us.  Ralphie came back and told us that we had something called ESP."
"I've heard of that before."  I interrupted, remembering a show I'd seen when I had a TV.  And a room.  And a bed.  And a-
"Well, none had," Rea said, unknowingly interrupting my internal wrestling match.  "When we first heard it, we thought we had some kind of disease.  I was supposed to have telepathy, the ability to read and speak though minds"
I almost fell backwards; in the first few sentences, Rea moved her mouth and words came out.  Towards the end, however, she shut her mouth.  But the words continued to sound as if they were being spoken.  I shuddered again and felt dizzy.  What the heck was going on?

Story post 1

I'm going to start story posting to keep my writing skills sharp.  Hope you guys enjoy it.
     *                                                                    *                                                                 *
My breathe came out in quick gasps as I bent over, clutching my stomach.  Where was Ralphie?
The punk stood over me with some sicko smile on his face.  "Where's your emo club buddies, now?"  He said, running his hands through his hair to give it that classic pretty boy look.  Some clown in the background laughed.
I growled, pushing the pain out of my mind.  Standing up, I pointed my shaking finger at Chris.  "You're going to regret messing with the Nights."  I snarled, clenching my other fist.
"Not as much as I'm going to enjoy it" Chris remarked, pulling back his fist to his me again.  In an instant, a fire seemed to grow inside of me, and time slowed down.  I could see Chris's facial expression, the way his fist curved, the expressions of the goons in the background.
It's happening again.  I calmly watched as the fist came closer and closer.  When it was an inch from my face, I grabbed it.  Using only a fraction of my new found energy, I pulled it outwards so that Chris stumbled forward.  Sticking out my foot, I tripped him, and watched as he slowly fell to the ground, face first.
Looking around, I caught a glimpse of Rea as she slowly ran into the crowd.  I sprinted into the crowd, dodging the slowly moving bodies as if I were a fish in the sea.   Grabbing her hand, I didn't stop moving for a moment.  When we were about a foot from the crowd, time speed up again.
The crowd came back to furious life, looking for the reason for their precious idol's fall.  Within an instant, we were found.  Surging forward, they came closer to us.  I glanced at Rea.  Her head was raised, studying something on the roof.
Poor, Rea.  Always the dreamer, always distracted by the Earth around her.  I wonder if she even knew the danger we were in.
I watched with dread as the crowd came closer.   What the heck are we going to do?

100th post!

This is officially the 100th post of D.R.A.C. blog!  It's been a while, but we've made it.  Aside from that, I was wondering what would happen if Google created a search engine made of DNA strands.  Research for cancer killing treatments would be a heck of a lot easier.  Question for Jinx and Ali:  Did you guys plan that?

Mar 9, 2011

I hate prom!

I hate prom!  All those white dresses and stupid tuxedos!  I hate all those expensive cars that bring those poor saps to the dance.  Ali begged me to let her go to prom with me!  I'm off to hit my head against a wall!

I love prom!

I love prom!  All those pretty white dresses, and tuxedos!  I love all the fancy cars that bring the people to the dance.  Jinx said he would come to the Junior's prom with me!  I'm off to pick out a dress!

Cold

I have a cold right now, and my right eye is acting up again.  I still went to school, though, so I'm going to see if I can tough it out.  I'm listening to "Buddy Holly" by Weezer.  Corny song, but I still love it.

Okay...

Other than that little clip about fire boys and cell phones, my day has been pretty ordinary.  The entire 10th grade class took the writing test today, so I missed 1st period and some of 2nd. It seems like we get a writing exam shoved into our face every time we turn around.  I wouldn't be so upset if it didn't matter so much.  I mean, come on!  95% of the writing we do isn't going to matter that much in the work field.  Anyways, if we could write in 3rd grade, I think we can write in 10th grade.  Making an essay that determines whether or not you pass 10th grade can be just a little taxing.  Anyways, I'm off to track today to practice.  Someone tried to hack the website... again.  Anyone up for anti virus software?  I'm tired of dealing with it.

Mar 7, 2011

Wow

Hey check out this snapshot from a news report!!!  This guy did this and didn't even get hurt!!!  Nice!  The guy calls himself Fire Boy!!!  In the background is a burning building.  The guy went in to get a cell phone!  Totally nuts, but that's kind of cool!

Party for the end of the world

I know facebook already did this, but I thought about it first!  Party at my house on Dec. 24th, 2012.  Bring your freak on. I think we need an acronym for "What Is Up"  How about WIU?  Naw, probably means something bad in some other country.

Groove Shark Accounts

Okay, okay, I fixed Jinx's Groove Shark account.  I'm working on Ile's Groove Shark account (boy that kid needs to learn some new music).  Remember that if you want a Groove Shark account, just ask me (at aaron.mckenzie101@gmail.com), or Jinx (at partycity1@hotmail.com).  I just got asked to follow someone's blog, which was pretty cool.  Just a musing of mine, but what if everyone had a blog instead of a Facebook account?  I think the world would communicate a little easier and be a little cooler.  Who knows?  Party on December 24th, 2012 at Jinx's house.

I agree with Aaron. Fridays

I agree with Aaron. Fridays suck; I love Thursdays. I'm listening to Nickelback: "If Everyone Cared." So right, so right.

Today is friday and I am Bored

That should be my title for every Friday.  I made this in Google Sketch Up.  I feel like I should make a newsletter for D.R.A.C.  I don't know... does anyone else feel like D.R.A.C. is a long shot.  It's probably just me being depressed because it's Friday.  In reality, I don't get happy on Fridays.  Friday means the end of the school week and the start of two boring, pointless days that I can't find anything to do with if it would save my soul.  If anyone (and I mean anyone) has something to do and they want someone to help them with it, then please call me!!!!  Normally I would be careful about sharing my phone number, but who cares.  (704)-918-8299.

Steps for getting rid of your deepest fear

1.  Think of your deepest fear
2.  Think of Justin Bieber getting elected president
3 Sigh in relief as you realized your deepest fears aren't as bad as you thought they were.
NOTE: This does not work for people who's deepest fear is of Justin Bieber getting elected president
